The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) hosted its biannual Member Meeting on May 10 in conjunction with the Ohio Higher Education Computing Council (OHECC) annual conference held at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. The meeting provided an opportunity for OARnet and its partners to share important updates on infrastructure upgrades, security services and broadband expansion efforts that impact higher education institutions, as well as to foster discussions about topical interests such as ChatGPT.

Program analyzes digital data from criminal investigations to combat drug trafficking in Ohio
The State of Ohio established two new Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC) offices in Toledo and Cincinnati this year to expand the use of computer forensics to combat drug trafficking. The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) worked with the sites to support the bandwidth needed for law enforcement to process and analyze the large volume of digital data uncovered in criminal investigations.
OARnet connects WOSU Public Media to new Columbus headquarters
Transition to new broadcasting facility called for collaboration among engineering and technology teams
Working collaboratively with the Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC), the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) and The Ohio State University, WOSU Public Media moved from its long-time home at Ohio State’s Fawcett Center to a state-of-the-art building located just east of campus at the corner of 14th Avenue and Pearl Street. Although the project required years of planning, construction and a carefully orchestrated transition of equipment, WOSU maintained seamless and uninterrupted broadcasts to the community throughout the process.
