OARnet assists with expansion of state narcotics intelligence operation

The State of Ohio established two new Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC) offices in Toledo and Cincinnati this year to expand the use of computer forensics to combat drug trafficking. The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) worked with the sites to support the bandwidth needed for law enforcement to process and analyze the large volume of digital data uncovered in criminal investigations.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded OARnet a planning grant to develop a network of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) training and research resources for smaller higher education institutions in the state of Ohio.

OARnet connects WOSU Public Media to new Columbus headquarters

Working collaboratively with the Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC), the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) and The Ohio State University, WOSU Public Media moved from its long-time home at Ohio State’s Fawcett Center to a state-of-the-art building located just east of campus at the corner of 14th Avenue and Pearl Street. Although the project required years of planning, construction and a carefully orchestrated transition of equipment, WOSU maintained seamless and uninterrupted broadcasts to the community throughout the process.
