OARnet to Host Worldwide Testing of New Video Conferencing Technology Today 
More than 80 national and international research institutions and networking organizations are participating in Megaconference

Columbus, Ohio (October 11, 1999) - More than 80 national and international research institutions and networking organizations are participating in Megaconference, the world's largest H.323 Internet video conference, being held today in Seattle. Megaconference runs in conjunction with the Fall Internet2 Meeting, taking place today through Wednesday. The Megaconference is a permanent, continuous multipoint H.323 Internet video conference organized and supported by the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) located in Columbus.

Columbus, Ohio - (July 21, 1999) - Tomorrow's world is being experienced today -- at least by 11 Ohio high school students.

These high school students are using technologies most of us never will. And it's all happening during the 1999 Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) Summer Institute: Computing and Networking for the New Millennium. The Institute, which runs July 12-23, immerses freshmen and sophomores in the technologies that are helping to shape the future -- high performance computing and networking.

Columbus, Ohio (March 15, 1995) - In mid-February, OARnet and MCI Telecommunications completed the installation and testing of OARnet's expanded gateway service to the Internet. The new service establishes connections between OARnet and internetMCI Direct Connect Access. As a result of this new service, OARnet, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, now maintains a total of 10.5Mbps total gateway throughput to the Internet through three different diverse paths.
