OARnet’s Schopis with OSU group headed to East Africa

Paul Schopis’ deep understanding of technology and the powerful resources it provides and enables may just help save lives in East Africa.

Schopis, interim director of OARnet, left for East Africa on Friday as part of a weeklong project titled “Bridging the Gap in eCapacity for Global Health Research and Training in East Africa.” Schopis is part of a group being led by project director Dr. Wondwossen Abebe Gebreyes, director of Global Health Programs for the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University.

Inauguration imageColumbus, Ohio — February 4, 2009  —  Ohio computer users helped make President Barack Obama’s inauguration the most watched streaming video event in the Internet’s history, pushing network traffic over the state’s fiber-optic backbone to more than 8.1 gigabits – or 8.1 billion bits of digital information – per second.

The Ohio Commons for Digital Education partners - Ohio Learning Network, OhioLINK, and the Ohio Supercomputer Center - are seeking proposals for the Convergence of Libraries, Learning and Technology Conference, March 7- 9, 2004 in Columbus. OCDE 2004 will feature both submitted and invited papers, technical sessions, pre-conference workshops, and plenary presentations.

Ohio BMV pilots self-service kiosks with help from OARnet

In an effort to make its services easier to access, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) recently announced the launch of nine self-service kiosks at deputy registrar and retail locations around the state. These kiosks, currently in a pilot phase, will allow Ohio drivers to renew their vehicle registration and print out their new registration cards and validation stickers while minimizing wait times at the BMV.
