Columbus, Ohio  (August 5, 2005) - The world' first Gigaconference videoconferencing event opened at noon EST today to showcase the use of high-end, high-performance videoconferencing equipment. The Internet2 Commons and Codian Corp are sponsoring the event.

More than 20 participating sites from around the world are giving presentations on a variety of topics including animated videos, musical performances, classroom teaching experiences, remote medical collaborations, and much more.

Demand for TFN Service Forces Early Ring-0 Upgrade 
Engineers from the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) completed an early upgrade to the primary core ring on the Third Frontier Network (TFN) last week in order to handle increasing demand for networking services.

Columbus, Ohio (May 18, 2005) - More than 200 school districts and thousands of students will participate May 19 th in Megaconference Junior, a project designed to give students in elementary and secondary schools across the country and around the world the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each other's learning experiences in real time, using advanced multi-point Internet videoconferencing technology. Megaconference Jr will run Thursday May 19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
