On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Gov. John R. Kasich will visit OARnet on Ohio State’s West Campus to light the 100 Gigabit-per-second network of the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet). The $13 million expansion leverages OARnet’s 1,850-plus miles of fiber-optic network backbone. The 100 Gbps technology will advance research and job growth across Ohio’s medical research, higher education, manufacturing, engineering and technology corridors.

Lt. Governor Jon Husted, Director of InnovateOhio, today visited Riverside Local School District in Logan County to announce the launch of several innovative projects at the school that are funded through Ohio’s K-12 Broadband Connectivity Grant and that will help provide affordable high-speed internet access to a student population that is largely underserved by broadband.

April 20, 2008 - Many Ohioans do not have adequate access to high-speed internet service, which hinders their economic prospects and affects their quality of life. Solving Ohio's broadband challenges is the subject of this week's Town Hall Ohio.
