OARnet Interactive Digital Technologies Event

October 13, 2005

Shawnee State University

KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
The Importance of High-speed Scalable Networks to the development of Interactive Digital Technologies
featuring Dr. Michael Zyda
Director of the Viterbi School of Engineering's GamePipe Laboratory at the University of Southern California

OARnet celebrated its second year of fiber-optic service with a groundbreaking live demonstration of adding assets to a live, regionally networked beta gaming simulation being tested and monitored at several colleges and universities around the state. Interactive presentations from college and university students, academic program directors and industry representatives illustrated the impact of the OARnet network (formerly OSCnet) on teaching, learning and business in southeastern Ohio and throughout the state.

The OARnet event preceded the Shawnee 3.0 Conference for Interactive Digital Technology.

The event also marked the announcement of an awards competition at next year's OARnet event. Categories for the 2006 event will include awards for innovative research collaborations, technology coordination and networking technology leadership.
