Next Level Network: Improving your on-campus connectivity

At Korcett, we have spent over a decade designing, installing, and managing high density student housing networks.  In this session we’ll analyze the state of ResNet services on campus including current trends, pitfalls, and shortcomings and what the future holds for providing top notch speed and reliability for your on-campus students.

OARsec

The charter of REN-ISAC, the Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center, states that “sharing experiences, practices, and responses amongst organizations has long been known to improve operations in those individual organizations, and in those communities.” OARnet is creating an information sharing body for the Ohio research and education security community, to be called OARsec.  The high-level goals of OARsec are for OARnet members to share security information, improve security operations, and build more favorable partnerships with security vendors. We are already working with vendors including Splunk and Palo Alto Networks. This session will introduce the organization and recruit members to participate in the group’s work.

***Note: Immediately following the OARtech Networking Lunch at noon, OARnet and OhioLINK are jointly sponsoring an IAMOhio Federated Identity and Authentication Workshop starting at 1:00 pm. This workshop will kick off a program aimed at enabling all OhioLINK members to adopt more secure, modern authentication based on SAML - the standard used by Shibboleth and the InCommon Federation. The workshop, for Library staff and IT staff from OARnet and OhioLINK member institutions, will help institutions get started on the path to this more flexible and secure authentication framework with OH-TECH’s assistance.
