Shavonne MorainShavonne Morain, Chief of Staff

Shavonne Morain serves as chief of staff for the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet).

In this role, she directs and coordinates the daily administrative activities of OARnet and the technology infrastructure for the University Systems of Ohio. Among her duties, she is responsible for tracking projects, evaluating metrics, and facilitating outreach with internal and external stakeholders, as well as working with senior staff on budgeting, hiring and performance management issues

Previously, Morain served as a business manager for OSU Med Center Information Systems department. As part of this role, she led the project for bringing the previously outsourced telecom billing in-house. This project required Morain to work closely with Med Center IS leadership, engineers and external vendors to ensure collaboration and adherence to system specifications for general ledger financial processing. Because of the success of this project, Morain and her team received special commendation from then CIO Asif Ahmad.

Morain is currently part of the Board of Directors for The OSU Health Plan, Inc. She serves as staff leader on the OSU Culture Transformation Steering Committee, a group convened as a result of OSU President E. Gordon Gee's strategic goals to create a university of eminence, in part through a culture of high performance. Morain also previously served on The Ohio State University's University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC), holding several leadership positions within the group, including co-chair for Governance and Parliamentarian.

Morain earned a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from DeVry University and a master's degree with distinction in public administration from Keller Graduate School of Management.
