Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro Signs Virtualization Licensing Agreement

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 07, 2011 – Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, in conjunction with The Ohio State University, today announced signing an aggregate purchasing agreement with VMware, Inc. projected to generate $25.4 million in direct savings and $155.5 million in indirect savings over the next two years. The agreement serves all Ohio four-year and two-year campuses, K-12 schools, and state and local governments, as well as related health care communities.

Ohio Technology Consortium strengthens Ohio Board of Regents tech organizations

The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH,) a new umbrella organization recently announced by Chancellor Petro, enables OARnet to continue to grow and better serve its members and partners.

The consortium will allow OARnet to focus on its core principles: expanding the broadband network to Ohio higher education, K‐12 and state and local government, providing the IT infrastructure to the BOR, and offering cutting edge and innovative student services for higher education customers in Ohio.

OH-TECH combines the administrative functions for OARnet, the Ohio Supercomputer Center and the newly formed Division of Student Services, with The Ohio State University serving as its fiscal agent. OARnet and VMware host a tech event

September 28, 2011 - OARnet and VMware partnered to host a free, all-day technology event for education and government organizations. The 14 breakouts sessions featured topics like virtualization case studies, roadmaps and best practices, and fostered an environment for collaboration and problem-solving among participants.
