InCommon Participation Agreement for Ohio Public Higher Education

OARnet has worked together with InCommon to develop a specific version of the InCommon Participation Agreement for use by all public institutions of higher education in Ohio, including universities, community colleges, and technical colleges. This agreement has been negotiated by OARnet, the Ohio Attorney General's Office, and InCommon, and approved by all organizations.

The OBR-CIO Advisory Board identified Federated Identity Management (FIDM) as a strategic priority and directed OARnet to implement a formal program. This agreement is a key component of the program. FIDM has the potential to streamline collaboration and improve privacy and security operations.

InCommon, operated by Internet2, allows researchers, students, faculty and staff to use university credentials to access online resources from other member institutions and third-party providers. The result is a privacy-protecting method for providing individuals with single sign-on access to authorized or licensed online resources.

Public institutions can visit www.incommon.org/iamohio for specific information, including how to join, or can email admin@incommon.org.
